We are a small voluntary group wanting to improve our local park.

For those unfamiliar with it, The Level is a small, historic public park in central Brighton, which has hosted an array of community festivities and events for over two centuries. It is divided in two by Rose Walk that runs east-west across the middle: in the north there is the open, green 'town green', and in the southern end a children’s play area including a café and a skatepark area.

The Level is a vibrant community space used by people of all ages and sections of our community, the north grassy areas being used for playing football, cricket and Frisbee, practising circus skills, dog-walking, or just relaxing, meeting friends and having a picnic, whilst the children’s play areas are enjoyed by parents and children of all ages and the skatepark by skaters of all ages. No doubt about it, The Level remains a vital and well used community park, much loved by the residents of Brighton for centuries, because for many it is, in fact, their garden.

We put on our own events and activities to bring more people and more variety into the park. For planned activities look at our Events page. If you have any ideas for events or would like to help out, please get in touch.

More information on the proposed council redevelopment can be found on the council website.
